This is unusual because it's a bit out of the way for us who live in Knoxville, but Kathy and I attended this a couple of months ago and it was excellent, so I think it's well worth attending if you can. Dr. Castro will be on hand to answer questions which is a real bonus!

A free plant-based (vegetarian) cooking class will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. at the Morristown Seventh-day Adventist church (360 W. Economy Rd (behind Lowe’s), Morristown). Participants will see live cooking demonstrations and learn how to prepare healthful salads, healthful vegetables, and nutritious one-dish meals. Food samples will be provided. A plant-based cookbook and accompanying workbook will be available for purchase following the cooking class. In addition, Dr. Daniel Castro will provide a nutrition presentation on how to have a balanced diet. His presentation will answer questions such as, what is a balanced diet? How can I be sure my children are getting minimum daily vitamin and mineral requirements? What are the basic foods essential for growth and development that should be included in daily meal planning? The class is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required and will be limited to 50 people. Register by calling 423-248-2921 or emailing health@morristownchurch.com. The registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 1. Donations will be accepted on site.
